Skytek Update Report: Severe Weather Warning – Hurricane “Zeta”

Hurricane Zeta is expected to make landfall in Louisiana late PM on the 28th October.

Skytek’s REACT system monitors the marine exposure in the cone of Hurricane “Zeta”. 943 ships are captured in the radius of the 50kts wind at the landfall. 15% of them are bluewater cargo carriers.

Major gas and oil operators are shutting down production and evacuating platforms and rigs in preparation of the Hurricane. For some, this is the fifth shut down this year.

More than 834 offshore and energy assets are captured in the track of the Hurricane.

The Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement (BSEE) reports that non-essential personnel from 154 platforms have been evacuated, and production shut on nearly 50% of oil facilities and 55% of gas production facilities.
